Meet the Authors

PresidentAmy Elias is the founder of Profiles and has over 20 years of experience in public relations.  She has implemented comprehensive marketing and communications programs for clients such as the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, Baltimore School for the Arts, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, University of Baltimore, Enterprise Homes and The Y of Central Maryland.  The firm has placed key stories with The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, other metro dailies, leading trade publications, as well as CNN, ESPN radio, and others, and on niche-targeted websites and blogs.  Her work has been the recipient of many industry awards – Addys, PRSAs, MarComs. Profiles has distinguished itself by expanding the definition of PR to employ it as a measurable marketing tool, that is, with true accountability.

Vice President

Amy Burke Friedman, Vice President of Profiles, Inc., joined the agency in 2003 following some time in the PR department of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Prior to the BSO, while in college at the University of Maryland, College Park, Amy spent several semesters interning for Baltimore magazine. Amy brings her creative and diligent work ethic to the table when helping clients such as the Baltimore School for the Arts and the National Aquarium. A fan of dining out and exploring the Baltimore culinary scene, it is fitting that she also works hard to promote her clients RA Sushi Bar Restaurant and B&O American Brasserie. A Baltimore native, Amy is a loyal Ravens fan, loves crabs and can’t imagine living anywhere else. Amy was recognized in 2010 as one of PRnews’ “15 to Watch”, an honor awarded to budding leaders and creative practitioners in the public relations industry. Facebook is her favorite way to stay connected and be a part of the social media world.

Account ManagerJamie Watt Arnold, a Senior Account Manager, joined the Profiles team five years ago after working at the company as an intern. Jamie found herself loving the job as much as what Baltimore City had to offer. Originally from a town a outside of Philadelphia, Jamie decided to stay in Maryland after graduating from University of Maryland, College Park. Jamie handles clients such as the Y of Central Maryland, Kennedy Krieger Institute and the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore. She enjoys every aspect of her job in PR, from pitching stories and planning events to seeing a public relations campaign carried out. Her outgoing personality carries over outside of work with her involvement with the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s MS 150, a 150-mile bike tour raising millions of dollars for multiple sclerosis, reading, and reality TV. Jamie stays social media savvy with Facebook and Twitter, though she’d like to tweet more often! Account ManagerSenior Account Manager, Marianne Ortiz, joined Profiles in October 2010 after working as an Account manager at Abel Communications in Baltimore where she was responsible for running accounts, getting media placements and working on social media campaigns.  Prior to this, she was an Account Executive at Merritt Group and an Assistant Account Executive at Edelman in Washington D.C.  Marianne is currently working with clients such as The Baltimore Station, Central Maryland Transportation Alliance, Chazz: A Bronx Original, Graul’s Market, Reznick Group, and Wagonheim Law.  A University of Maryland-College Park graduate, Marianne enjoys cooking, traveling to warm and sunny places, celebrity gossip, and trying new restaurants.  Originally from outside of Philadelphia, Marianne currently lives in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore with her husband, and two pets, Dusty and Tabby.  On Football Sundays, she roots for both the Eagles and the Ravens.

 Account Executive, Shelly May, joined the Profiles team in August 2010 after graduating from Stevenson University and serving as a Marketing Director at South Moon Under. She is currently working on a wide range of accounts including the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore, Kennedy Krieger Institute, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and the Y of Central Maryland. Before joining Profiles, Shelly completed a five-month internship with Baltimore magazine as a Marketing and Special Events Intern where she planned, promoted and executed events for the magazine, most notably, the magazine’s annual Top Singles party. A former NCAA division III volleyball player, Shelly also enjoys traveling and staying active on Twitter and Facebook. Shelly currently resides in her hometown, Bel Air.

Junior Account Executive, Erin Culloty, joined Profiles in January 2012 after graduating from Elon University with a degree in Strategic Communications.  She provides a fresh perspective on PR tactics and social media through her work with clients such as The Baltimore Station, Central Maryland Transportation Alliance, Chazz: A Bronx Original, Reznick Group, and Wagonheim Law. She most recently held an internship at BRG Communications in Northern Virginia where she assisted account teams with media monitoring and developing tracking reports and media lists. Erin also spent a semester abroad in London where she enjoyed traveling around Europe and interning with Analytica Communications, a publishing and communications group. Erin resides in her hometown, Timonium, and you can find lots of pictures of her dog, a havanese, on her Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Junior Account Executive, Christina Camba, joined Profiles in April 2012 after graduating from Towson University with a degree in Mass Communications and serving as a Marketing Director at South Moon Under. She is currently working on a wide range of accounts including the Baltimore School for the Arts, National Aquarium, B&O American Brasserie, Maryland Athletic Club and Wellness Center and RA Sushi Bar Restaurant. Before joining Profiles, Christina completed a six-month internship with University of Maryland Medical Center Foundation as a Special Events Intern where she organized, coordinated and executed many annual summer events for the Foundation, most notably, the hospital’s Inaugural Greenebaum Cancer Center Golf Tournament. Christina is also a local girl who loves going to concerts and spending time with her dog Zoey.  Christina currently resides in Towson.
